The Garbage Monster
I illustrated The Garbage Monster, a rhyming children’s book by Jacob Van Dyke that encourages kids to take responsibility for their environment. Working closely with the author, I created expressive, engaging visuals that brought the story’s playful tone and core message to life. My character designs, especially the Garbage Monster, were crafted to be humorous and captivating without being too scary—striking a balance that kept young readers entertained and inspired. Each illustration was thoughtfully composed to support the rhythm of the text and enhance storytelling through color, emotion, and movement. The book has been well-received, with readers praising both the artwork and its uplifting message. The Garbage Monster is available now on Amazon.
Turtles are Jerks
I had the joy of illustrating Turtles Are Jerks, a children’s book written by my wife that playfully challenges assumptions and teaches an important lesson about not judging others based on appearances. The story follows a young squirrel who doesn't let others influence what he is able to learn by interacting with his best friend who turns out to be a turtle. I created expressive, character-rich illustrations that balance humor with warmth, helping to guide young readers through the book’s subtle message about empathy and understanding. This project was a heartfelt collaboration, combining my passion for storytelling through illustration with my wife’s clever, meaningful writing.
Vehicles
Illustrating vehicles has been a long-standing passion of mine—deeply rooted in my family’s love of classic cars. Growing up around vintage trucks and antique cars, I developed an appreciation not just for their mechanics, but for their design and personality. That connection shows up in my work, where I explore vehicles in a variety of styles—from clean, flat vector graphics inspired by studios like DKNG, to more textured, hand-drawn approaches that capture age and character. Whether it's a detailed rendering of a '50s pickup or a playful stylized illustration of a modern ride, I enjoy balancing accuracy with artistic expression to give each piece its own unique voice.
Miscellaneous
Beyond books and client work, I love illustrating as a creative playground for experimenting with style, humor, and pop culture mashups. My sticker designs range from Nacho Libre and Mario crossovers to Spider-Man and dinosaurs and other characters reimagined in vintage rubber hose animation style. These projects let me blend fan-favorite characters with unexpected twists, using bold lines, playful expressions, and punchy colors to create designs that feel both nostalgic and fresh. Whether it’s a mashup that makes people laugh or a deep-cut reference that fans instantly connect with, I treat each illustration as a chance to push style and personality.
